Product Description

This Computer Based Training (CBT) system teaches the trainee the basics about the Polyphem Fiber Optic Guided Missile. The package is divided into three sections: 'Missile Details', 'The Control Panel' and 'Mission Examples'. The 'Missile Details' section teaches the trainee about all relevant aspects of the missile. The 'Control Panel' section covers the control panel in detail. The 'Mission Examples' section supplies detail information for different Polyphem missions, in an animated step-by-step fashion. The trainee can step through each phase of each specific mission type. The CBT system complements the Virtual Reality Training Simulator. The CBT system can be considered as a 'Pre-Simulation' training system.

Missile Details (1)		 the missile details section of the cbt package contains a menu section (top-left), missile cross-section box (top-right), text box (bottom-left) and a picture box (bottom-right). Missile Details (2)		 The control panel section of the cbt package contains an interactive control panel (top), and a text box (bottom). If the trainee clicks on a button or on the joystick, the information boxes are updated.
The Control Panel		 The mission examples section of the cbt package contains an animated mission diagram (top), animated mission planning screen (middle-left), animated control panel (centre), animated infrared camera view (middle-right), text box (bottom-left) and a set of play buttons (bottom-right). The trainee may step the mission forward or backward, or it may be cycled. All the relevant parts of the screen are hyperlinked. If, for example, the trainee steps the mission forward, he/she will be able to get a total picture of what is happening with each element of the system, for each step. This promotes holistic (big picture) learning. This screenshot shows a missile being launched from a ship, versus land targets.
