System Components
A real endoscope is used for maximum realism. This endoscope is instrumented to interface with the host computer (background). The tip of the endoscope is tracked with a tracking system (bottom right). The transparent silicone rubber force-feedback model is shown in the foreground. Once the student has mastered basic endoscope navigation, the transparent model is covered with a cloak.
